The following is an introductory assignment to better prepare you for what we will be discussing during Ung’s novel First They Killed My Father. We will spend two days in the library researching background information essential for understanding this novel. Then you will be divided into small groups to present your information. Follow the directions as provided.

You will be required to keep a reading journal as you read through the novel. This is not a simple summary of the story but commentary and reflection about theme. For each entry :

    • Each entry must be ¾ to 1 page in length
